Clinical Application
These paired Finochietto blades are intended to provide atraumatic, static retraction of the ribs during open thoracic procedures. They are used to establish and maintain an operative field for procedures such as posterolateral and anterolateral thoracotomy, chest wall reconstruction, and other surgeries requiring controlled rib separation to access the pleural cavity.
Design & Configuration
The set consists of two complementary blade elements sized 50x80 mm that mount to a standard Finochietto frame. Blade geometry and surface area are selected to distribute retraction forces across the rib surface, reducing focal pressure and minimizing soft-tissue trauma. The Finochietto pattern provides incremental, ratcheting-controlled distraction when used with a compatible frame, allowing the surgeon to apply and maintain reproducible spread with fine adjustments.
