Clinical Application

This loop curette is designed for controlled removal of cerumen and small foreign bodies from the external auditory canal. It is intended for use in outpatient ENT clinics, procedure rooms, and operating suites under direct visualization with an otoscope or surgical microscope. The instrument enables precise scooping and debridement when irrigation or suction are contraindicated or when tactile control is required to protect canal skin and the tympanic membrane.

Design & Configuration

The loop tip provides a scooping action that captures wax and debris while minimizing scraping contact with canal epithelium. The Fig.3 loop profile corresponds to a small-to-moderate loop diameter suitable for targeted removal in typical adult canal anatomy. The 16.5 cm overall length gives the clinician sufficient reach and hand distance for fine manipulation under magnification. A narrow shank and balanced handle geometry support controlled, single-handed work and accurate orientation of the loop within the canal.
