Clinical Application
Designed for controlled removal of cerumen and superficial debris from the external auditory canal, this loop instrument is used in clinic and operating-room settings for ear canal debridement, preparation prior to otologic procedures, and gentle retrieval of small loose foreign material under direct visualization with an otoscope or operating microscope. The loop allows engagement and extraction of soft wax without the scraping or compressive force associated with curettes or suction-only techniques.
Design & Configuration
The single loop tip mounted on a slender shaft provides tactile feedback and precise control when engaging material within the canal. The straight shaft geometry preserves a direct line of sight for the examiner and minimizes obstruction during microscopic or otoscopic work. The Fig. 1 variant is a fine-profile configuration intended to permit targeted engagement in narrow canals and in procedures requiring delicate manipulation.
