Clinical Application
Designed to provide secure retraction and tissue control during posterior spinal procedures, the instrument is used to expose the lamina, facets, ligamentum flavum and adjacent neural elements during laminectomy and decompression. The sharp blade tip permits controlled engagement of dense soft tissue and fibrous attachments, enabling the assistant or surgeon to maintain a clear operative field for bone removal, nerve root decompression and hemostasis.
Design & Configuration
The long, straight 31 cm shaft delivers reach into deeper lumbar and thoracic exposures while preserving a direct line of sight for the surgeon. The single-ended sharp blade concentrates contact force on a narrow edge to improve tissue purchase and reduce slipping on tough fascial planes. This geometry is useful when initial separation or hooking of ligamentous tissue is required; because the blade is sharp, deliberate placement and secure handling are important to avoid inadvertent tissue injury.
