Clinical Application
Used to remove hypertrophic adenoid tissue from the nasopharynx during adenoidectomy procedures. The curette enables controlled curettage and scooping of lymphoid tissue via a transoral approach, commonly employed in pediatric and adult ENT cases for obstructive symptoms, recurrent otitis media, or chronic nasal obstruction. It is intended for use under direct or indirect visualization and often in combination with suction and curettage techniques to achieve a clear surgical field.
Design & Configuration
The instruments 22 cm shaft provides the working length required to reach the posterior nasopharyngeal wall from the oral cavity while maintaining tactile control. The 21 mm spoon/scoop tip offers a balance between tissue capture and precision, allowing surgeons to core or sweep adenoid tissue with measured strokes. The Beckmann (Fig. 5) geometry supplies an angulation designed to follow the posterior nasopharyngeal contour, improving access to superior and posterior tissue without excessive transoral manipulation.
