Clinical Application
This curette is intended for manual removal of adenoid tissue during adenoidectomy procedures. The spoon-shaped cutting cup cores and scrapes hypertrophic nasopharyngeal lymphoid tissue under direct visualization or through a transoral approach. It is used when a controlled, tactile technique is preferred or as an adjunct to powered instrumentation to remove residual tissue and refine contours.
Design & Configuration
The elongated 22 cm shaft provides reach to the nasopharynx while preserving handling ergonomics at the oral aperture. The 19 mm curette cup is sized to balance tissue capture with maneuverability in the confined nasopharyngeal space. The Fig. 4 configuration denotes a standard Beckmann curette profile with a scooped cutting rim designed to engage and core tissue efficiently while allowing the surgeon to feel resistance and control depth of excision.
