Clinical Application
Designed for direct laryngoscopy to facilitate endotracheal tube placement and visualization of the glottis during airway management. The Macintosh #3 is commonly used for adult patients and is suitable for use in operating rooms, emergency departments, intensive care units, and ambulatory surgery centers. The integrated fiber-optic illumination provides bright distal lighting to assist with rapid and reliable identification of vocal cords during orotracheal intubation.
Design & Configuration
The curved Macintosh geometry is intended to be positioned in the vallecula to lift the epiglottis indirectly, producing an improved line-of-sight to the glottic opening. At 107 mm length, this #3 blade provides a mid-range shaft appropriate for the average adult airway—balancing reach and control without excessive bulk. The internal fiber-optic channel transmits light to the blade tip, delivering focused illumination that reduces shadows along the laryngoscopic view and supports faster visualization compared with non-illuminated blades. The rounded distal profile minimizes soft-tissue trauma during insertion and manipulation.

Material & Construction
Constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel for durability and repeated reprocessing. Integrated fiber-optic components transmit illumination from a compatible handle or light source to the distal blade, providing consistent lighting at the site of visualization. The assembly is engineered for reusable clinical use and is compatible with standard cleaning and sterilization workflows for reusable stainless-steel instruments.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
