Clinical Application
Designed for controlled harvesting of split-thickness (partial-thickness) skin grafts, this knife is used to obtain uniform sheets of epidermis and a portion of dermis from donor sites. It is commonly employed in burn reconstruction, wound coverage, corrective and cosmetic procedures, and dermatologic grafting. The instrument is operated with a tangential slicing motion to produce grafts of consistent surface area and integrity suitable for meshing and grafting.
Design & Configuration
The instrument's long, thin blade and single-beveled cutting edge allow for smooth, tangential strokes across the donor site. Blade flexibility helps the operator follow body contours and modulate graft thickness by altering blade angle and pressure. An ergonomic handle provides tactile feedback and control for the surgeon during prolonged harvesting, helping to maintain even graft thickness and minimize donor-site trauma. The blade geometry reduces tissue drag and facilitates clean separation of graft tissue from the underlying dermis.
