Clinical Application
Designed for direct external measurement of pelvic dimensions, this instrument is used in obstetrics and gynecology to assess pelvic inlet and outlet spans, interspinous and intertuberous distances, and anterior–posterior diameters. It is useful for bedside clinical pelvimetry, preoperative planning, and anthropometric documentation where quick, reproducible linear measurements of pelvic landmarks are required. It does not replace radiographic or CT pelvimetry but provides a rapid, low-cost adjunct measurement for clinical decision-making.
Design & Configuration
Two articulated arms slide relative to one another along a clearly stamped centimeter scale to provide direct readout of linear distance up to a 34 cm span. The adjustable sliding configuration permits fine positioning against external bony landmarks while the flat contact tips distribute pressure across soft tissues to reduce localized compression during measurement. The simple mechanical design facilitates single-hand adjustment and rapid repeat measurements in clinical settings.
