Clinical Application

Designed for use in obstetric procedures, this curved placenta forceps is intended to aid in controlled delivery and removal of the placenta and retained membranes during the third stage of labor and in manual evacuation procedures. The instrument provides atraumatic engagement of placental tissue and membranes to facilitate safe extraction with tactile feedback for the operator. It is suitable for use in both vaginal deliveries and operative settings where controlled grasp and reach into the uterine cavity are required.

Design & Configuration

The curved shaft follows the uterine axis to improve access to the fundus and posterior surfaces while minimizing contact with the uterine wall. The Fig. 2 curvature offers a balance between reach and shaft rigidity for confident tissue control. Long fenestrated jaws provide a broad contact area for secure grip of placental tissue without concentrated pressure points. Ring handles and a ratchet-style locking mechanism (common to forceps of this class) allow the surgeon to maintain a stable hold while freeing the non-dominant hand for other tasks.
