Clinical Application
Designed for gynecologic procedures that require controlled scraping or removal of intrauterine tissue, the blunt loop curette is used for diagnostic endometrial sampling, therapeutic curettage, and removal of retained products. The blunt loop is intended to collect tissue while minimizing sharp cutting, making it suitable where atraumatic tissue retrieval is preferred.
Design & Configuration
The loop geometry concentrates scraping force along a smooth rounded rim to dislodge and capture tissue while limiting focal sharp edges that can increase perforation risk. The blunt loop configuration provides tactile feedback to the operator and improves control during systematic sweeping motions within the uterine cavity. A 25 cm overall length offers reach appropriate for most uterine procedures when paired with standard uterine sounds and cervical dilators. The Fig. 3 designation identifies this loop style and size within common instrument sets.
