Clinical Application
Designed for controlled scraping and removal of soft tissue from cavities, this malleable blunt curette is used primarily in gynecologic procedures such as endometrial curettage, sampling during diagnostic D&C, evacuation of retained products of conception, and removal of loose tissue or small polyps. The blunt working end facilitates gentle tissue engagement and is intended to reduce the risk of inadvertent cutting while allowing effective tissue collection for pathology.
Design & Configuration
The malleable shaft permits intraoperative contouring to match patient anatomy and the curvature of the uterine cavity, improving contact between the curette face and tissue surface. The blunt tip provides a less traumatic interface when negotiating the fundus and corneal regions compared with sharp curettes. A 25 cm overall length offers sufficient reach for routine gynecologic access through dilated cervical canals and common speculum setups. The Fig. 3 pattern references a widely used curvature profile that aids access to the uterine cavity while preserving tactile feedback for the operator.
