Clinical Application

Designed for gynecologic procedures that require mechanical removal or sampling of endometrial tissue, this curette is used during diagnostic and therapeutic dilation & curettage (D&C), for removal of retained products of conception, and for targeted sampling of the uterine lining for histopathology. The instrument provides direct tactile control for scraping or scooping intrauterine material under direct visualization or tactile guidance.

Design & Configuration

The Fig.1 Bumm's geometry is a standard curette configuration optimized for engaging and retrieving endometrial tissue while minimizing contact area to reduce unnecessary trauma. The 28 cm overall length gives adequate reach for adult uterine access in most transvaginal and transcervical procedures, allowing the surgeon to work with controlled hand positioning outside the sterile field. A low-profile shaft and scoop-style curette tip facilitate atraumatic passage through the cervical canal and effective tissue collection once inside the uterine cavity.
