Clinical Application
This instrument is a Bumm curette configured for controlled scraping and debridement of soft tissue, granulation, fibrous tissue, or other material from cavities and exposed surfaces. The 35 mm scoop provides a broad contact area for efficient removal while minimizing the need for repeated passes. The malleable shaft permits intraoperative contouring to reach angled or confined anatomy, which is useful when access with a rigid curette is limited.
Design & Configuration
The short (sh) pattern with a malleable shaft delivers a combination of reach and adaptability: the 34 cm overall length allows access into deeper cavities, while the bendable shaft can be shaped to match the target curvature and maintain an ergonomic approach angle for the surgeon. The 35 mm scoop tip distributes scraping force over a wider area, helping to remove tissue efficiently and reducing point pressure that can traumatize surrounding structures. The Fig.15 pattern denotes a standardized curette geometry favored for broad surface work.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument: Bumm curette, Fig.15
- Pattern: short (sh) with malleable shaft
- Overall length: 34 cm
- Tip width: 35 mm scoop
- Intended function: scraping and debridement of tissue/material
- Reusable construction
Material & Construction
Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel for corrosion resistance and repeated reprocessing. The shaft is designed to be malleable so it can be manually contoured during setup, while the scoop tip retains suitable rigidity to perform controlled curettage. Reusable construction supports sterilization workflows in central sterile departments.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
