Clinical Application
This rigid sharp curette is designed for controlled scraping and removal of soft tissue from a body cavity. It is commonly used in gynecologic procedures such as endometrial curettage and dilation & curettage (D&C) for tissue sampling, retained products of conception, or removal of pathological endometrial tissue. The sharp cutting edge enables efficient tissue acquisition when a sharp curettage action is required.
Design & Configuration
The instrument features a rigid shaft with a 30 mm sharp curette head and an overall length of 31 cm. Rigidity provides direct transfer of tactile feedback and controlled force during scraping, useful for accessing deeper cavities while maintaining alignment. The relatively large 30 mm head offers a broad scraping surface for removal of greater tissue volumes per pass; the sharp profile facilitates cutting and detachment of soft tissue. The Fig.14 pattern denotes a standard Recamier curvature and working-end geometry favored in gynecologic curettage.
