Clinical Application
This Recamier-style curette is designed for gynecologic procedures that require controlled scraping or scooping of endometrial and intrauterine tissue. Common uses include diagnostic and operative endometrial curettage, removal of retained products of conception, sampling for histopathology, and gentle debridement of the uterine cavity during dilation and curettage procedures. The spoon-shaped cutting face is intended to collect tissue samples with minimal penetration beyond the endometrial surface, supporting both diagnostic sampling and conservative tissue removal.
Design & Configuration
The instrument features a rigid 31 cm shaft to provide direct transmission of tactile feedback and controlled force from the operator to the tip. The Recamier (spoon) tip geometry concentrates scraping action into a rounded cup, enabling efficient tissue collection while reducing the risk of focal perforation compared with pointed curettes. A 7 mm cup size balances sample volume per pass with maneuverability in the cervical canal and uterine cavity, making it suitable for routine D&C and sampling across a range of patient anatomies.
