Clinical Application
This instrument is designed for intrauterine curettage procedures where controlled scraping or removal of endometrial tissue is required. Common uses include diagnostic endometrial sampling, removal of retained products of conception, polypectomy adjunct, and gentle debridement during dilation and curettage (D&C) procedures. The spoon-shaped curette tip enables effective tissue collection while minimizing focal pressure on the uterine wall when used with appropriate technique.
Design & Configuration
The malleable blade allows the operator to contour the shank to patient anatomy or procedural requirements, improving reach and orientation within the uterine cavity. The wider 40 mm curette surface provides a broad scraping area for efficient tissue removal, while a 31 cm overall length offers sufficient reach for adult uterine access without excessive shaft slack. The Sims-style profile (Fig.16) reflects a traditional single-ended curette geometry that balances scraping effectiveness with atraumatic contact.
