Clinical Application
This instrument is used for intrauterine tissue sampling and gentle curettage during gynecologic procedures. It is appropriate for diagnostic endometrial biopsies, removal of retained products of conception, and adjunctive scraping during dilation and curettage procedures where controlled tissue removal and sampling are required.
Design & Configuration
The malleable blade permits the clinician to contour the working end to the patient's uterine axis, improving contact with the endometrial surface while reducing the need for excessive uterine manipulation. The 8 mm working end provides a balance between tissue removal efficiency and tactile feedback for controlled scraping. At 31 cm overall length, the instrument offers adequate reach for intrauterine access while maintaining familiar balance and handling for routine gynecologic use. The Sims (Fig.2) profile denotes a standard scoop-shaped curette geometry optimized for atraumatic endometrial sampling.
