Clinical Application
This Sims-pattern uterine curette is intended for controlled endometrial curettage and tissue sampling in gynecologic procedures. Its spoon-shaped tip and size make it suitable for removal of endometrial tissue, retained products of conception, and for obtaining diagnostic biopsy material during dilation and curettage (D&C) procedures. The instrument is designed to assist clinicians in atraumatic tissue collection while allowing tactile feedback during scraping and scooping maneuvers.
Design & Configuration
The spoon-shaped Sims tip provides a concave surface that engages and collects endometrial tissue efficiently; the 21 mm working face balances surface area for effective curettage with a profile that facilitates passage through the cervical canal. A malleable shaft permits controlled contouring to align the instrument with a patient’s uterine axis, improving access in cases of anteversion or retroversion and helping to optimize the angle of approach while maintaining instrument control.
