Clinical Application
This instrument is designed for intrauterine curettage and endometrial tissue sampling. The Sims-pattern curette is commonly used during dilation and curettage procedures, evacuation of retained products of conception, and targeted removal of endometrial tissue or debris. Its blunt curette tip facilitates controlled scraping of the uterine lining for diagnostic or therapeutic indications while minimizing cutting trauma.
Design & Configuration
The malleable shaft allows the clinician to contour the instrument to the individual uterine axis and patient anatomy, improving access in anteverted, retroverted, or otherwise angulated uteri. The 31 cm overall length provides adequate reach from the vaginal introitus to the uterine fundus in the majority of adult patients. A 15 mm curette tip concentrates contact area for efficient tissue removal while maintaining a blunt scraping surface to reduce the risk of inadvertent perforation when used with appropriate technique.
