Clinical Application

This instrument is designed for intrauterine tissue removal and sampling. The rigid Sims-style curette with a blunt 15 mm spoon tip is used for endometrial curettage, diagnostic endometrial sampling, evacuation of retained products of conception, and other gynecologic procedures where controlled scraping or blunt dissection of the uterine cavity is required. Its length permits reach to the fundus in most non-obese adult patients while providing tactile feedback to the operator.

Design & Configuration

The rigid shaft provides direct transmission of tactile feedback and controlled force during scraping. A blunt, spoon-shaped 15 mm tip minimizes focal cutting risk compared with sharp curettes and is suitable when blunt debridement or sampling is preferred. The Fig.7 Sims pattern offers a geometry that aligns with the uterine cavity profile for effective tissue engagement while helping to reduce the likelihood of inadvertent perforation when used with appropriate technique.
