Clinical Application
Designed for gynecologic procedures requiring atraumatic scraping or removal of endometrial tissue, this Sims-pattern uterine curette is used for diagnostic endometrial sampling, therapeutic dilation and curettage (D&C), and removal of retained products of conception. It is used in conjunction with standard vaginal speculum exposure and tenaculum stabilization; can be used under direct visualization or as part of blind curettage techniques depending on the clinical setting.
Design & Configuration
The Sims pattern features a spoon-shaped curettage tip oriented on a rigid shaft to provide controlled contact with the uterine lining. The rigid 31 cm length offers reach into the uterine cavity while maintaining tactile feedback for the surgeon. The 14 mm tip width balances effective tissue capture with the ability to work in variable uterine sizes and anatomies. The straight rigid shaft and Sims-style tip together facilitate scraping of anterior and posterior uterine walls with predictable angulation and motion during tissue sampling.
