Clinical Application
This instrument is designed for manual endometrial and endocervical curettage and tissue sampling in gynecologic procedures. It is used during diagnostic and therapeutic dilatation and curettage (D&C), removal of uterine lining, and to obtain specimens for histologic evaluation. The Sims-style spoon tip facilitates controlled scraping and collection of endometrial tissue with broad contact to the uterine lining.
Design & Configuration
The rigid shaft provides firm axial stability and direct tactile feedback during curettage, allowing the operator to control depth and pressure reliably. The Sims spoon-shaped tip is configured to engage and collect tissue across a broader surface compared with narrow loops, while the provided 8 mm size offers a balance between sample volume and maneuverability. A 31 cm overall length accommodates access in a variety of patient anatomies and operative positions while keeping the working tip visible and controllable at the distal end.
