Clinical Application
This Sims-pattern uterine curette is designed for controlled endometrial sampling and curettage in gynecologic procedures. It is used to collect endometrial tissue for diagnostic pathology, to remove retained products of conception, and for surgical curettage during D&C procedures. The spoon-shaped Sims tip provides a broad scraping surface suitable for atraumatic tissue collection and debridement of the uterine cavity.
Design & Configuration
The instrument's rigid shaft provides direct tactile feedback and minimizes shaft deflection during scraping, improving control when advancing to the fundus and when performing circumferential curettage. A 7 mm spoon-profile tip offers sufficient surface area to capture tissue while maintaining a low profile for insertion through the cervical canal. The Fig. 1 Sims geometry facilitates sweeping, scraping motions along the endometrial surface and allows for even pressure distribution across the curettage surface.
