Clinical Application
This tip is a replacement jaw assembly for Townsend biopsy forceps Fig.3 and is used to restore or maintain the specimen-grasping function of the parent instrument. In clinical practice it is applied when obtaining small tissue biopsies, targeted mucosal samples, or discrete lesion specimens during procedures where Townsend biopsy forceps are indicated. Replacing only the worn or damaged tip allows the instrument to continue delivering precise tissue capture without replacing the entire forceps.
Design & Configuration
The tip-only configuration preserves the original handle and shaft while renewing the working jaws. Precision-machined mating surfaces and alignment features ensure repeatable jaw closure and concentric capture, which helps minimize crush artifact and preserves specimen integrity. A dedicated replacement tip is a cost-effective option for facilities that perform routine reconditioning and reduces instrument downtime by avoiding full-device procurement.
