Clinical Application
This replacement tip restores the cutting/grasping end of Townsend biopsy forceps to maintain reliable tissue sampling. It is intended for use when the original jaw is worn, misaligned, or damaged so that bite quality, specimen integrity, and atraumatic handling can be preserved without replacing the entire instrument. Common applications include targeted mucosal or soft-tissue biopsies in surgical and endoscopic settings where precise bite and consistent specimen retrieval are required.
Design & Configuration
The tip-only configuration permits selective replacement of the jaw assembly while retaining the original handle and shaft, reducing downtime and lifecycle cost. The Fig.1 jaw geometry is a manufacturer-designated pattern; jaw shape and edge profile determine bite size, tissue apposition, and cut/grasp performance. Proper fit and alignment of the replacement tip are critical to restore tip-to-tip occlusion and predictable sampling force.
