Clinical Application
This instrument is designed to provide secure atraumatic purchase of the cervical tissue to permit controlled traction and stabilization during gynecologic procedures. It is commonly used to grasp the anterior and/or posterior cervical lip for uterine manipulation, intrauterine device placement, dilation and curettage (D&C), hysteroscopy setup, and other diagnostic and operative cervical interventions. The four-prong tip gives a positive grip on the cervix to reduce slipping during manipulation; operators should apply appropriate force to minimize tissue trauma.
Design & Configuration
The opposing jaws terminate in four small prongs on each side, producing a cross-grip that increases surface engagement with the cervical tissue. The hand-held forceps geometry allows direct line control for traction and counter-traction during vaginal access procedures. At 26 cm overall length the shaft provides adequate reach for most vaginal gynecologic procedures while keeping the hand clear of the operative field for precise manipulation.
