Clinical Application
Designed to provide a secure mechanical grip on firm soft tissue, these vulsellum forceps are commonly used in gynecologic and pelvic procedures where controlled traction is required. Typical applications include manipulation and exteriorization of the uterus and cervix during hysterectomy, vaginal procedures, dilation and curettage, and procedures requiring removal or traction of retained tissue. The toothed jaw gives predictable purchase on tissue and facilitates controlled, sustained traction during dissection or delivery maneuvers.
Design & Configuration
The vulsellum jaw geometry combines pointed, toothed tips with opposing jaws to maximize purchase on soft, fibrous tissue. The ring-handle design with ratchet locking enables the assistant or surgeon to maintain traction without continuous hand pressure, improving exposure and operative control. At 23 cm overall length the instrument provides extended reach into the pelvis while still allowing precise hand control at the handle; the length is selected to balance reach with tactile feedback during tissue manipulation.
