Clinical Application
This slender uterine sound is used to determine uterine cavity length and orientation, confirm cervical canal patency, and guide instrument placement prior to intrauterine device (IUD) insertion, dilation & curettage, or hysteroscopy. The integrated guard provides a tactile stop to help limit insertion depth and reduce the risk of uterine perforation while standardizing measurements across procedures.
Design & Configuration
The Valleix-style geometry is a straight, narrow probe designed for atraumatic passage through the cervical canal into the uterine cavity. Its length (25 cm) accommodates variation in patient anatomy and allows the clinician to reach the fundus without excessive shaft protrusion. The included guard functions as a depth stop, enabling reproducible placement and facilitating controlled sounding during procedures where depth control is critical.
