Clinical Application
Designed to achieve controlled cervical dilation, this 18 mm dilator is used to enlarge the cervical canal prior to intrauterine instrumentation. Common procedural applications include dilation before dilation and curettage (D&C), hysteroscopy, endometrial sampling, and preparation for intrauterine device placement or other transcervical procedures. The instrument enables gradual, tactile dilation to reduce cervical trauma and permit safe passage of operative devices.
Design & Configuration
The solid rod configuration with a smooth, rounded leading tip minimizes catch and tissue shear during advancement. The single-size 18 mm diameter provides a defined lumen for clinicians who require that specific caliber of dilation; it can be used alone when that diameter is indicated or as part of a sequential dilator set. The simple, rigid geometry offers direct tactile feedback to the operator, aiding controlled dilation and depth assessment.
