Clinical Application
Designed for atraumatic mechanical dilation of the cervical canal, this Hegar dilator is used to establish and maintain cervical access for intrauterine procedures that require a larger-caliber opening. Typical clinical applications include dilation prior to dilation and curettage (D&C), operative hysteroscopy, placement or removal of large intrauterine devices, and other gynecologic interventions where controlled radial dilation is needed. The 29.0 mm diameter serves as a final or large-size dilator in a progressive dilation sequence.
Design & Configuration
The single-ended, straight Hegar profile features a gently tapered, rounded tip and a smooth cylindrical shaft. The taper facilitates atraumatic entry and gradual stretching of the cervical tissue, while the rounded tip minimizes snagging or tearing.
