Clinical Application
Designed to provide controlled exposure of the vaginal canal and cervix for diagnostic and minor therapeutic procedures. Common uses include routine pelvic exams, cervical inspection and swabbing, colposcopy-assisted evaluations, Pap smear collection, IUD insertion and removal, and office-based cervical biopsies. The instrument facilitates direct visualization and access to the cervix while maintaining patient comfort and clinician control.
Design & Configuration
The Kallmorgen pattern employs two opposing blades (bills) that gently separate the vaginal walls to create a clear working corridor to the cervix. The 90 x 40 mm sizing combines a longer blade length with a moderate maximum opening, providing reach into the upper vaginal vault while avoiding excessive lateral stretching. An adjustable opening enables the clinician to set and maintain exposure appropriate for the exam or procedure, improving stability during specimen collection and minor interventions.
