Clinical Application

Provides atraumatic exposure of the vaginal canal and cervix for diagnostic and minor therapeutic gynecologic procedures. Common uses include routine pelvic examination, cervical cytology (Pap) sampling, colposcopy, IUD insertion and removal, endocervical sampling, and minor outpatient procedures such as cervical biopsy and polypectomy. The 70 x 27 mm size is intended to reach the cervix in patients with a deeper vaginal canal while maintaining a relatively narrow blade width for access through a tighter introitus.

Design & Configuration

The bivalve (two-blade) geometry separates the anterior and posterior vaginal walls to create a direct line of sight to the cervix and cervical os. A longer blade length combined with a narrower blade width facilitates visualization in deeper or anatomically challenging canals without excessive lateral displacement. Smooth, rounded blade edges reduce contact trauma during insertion and manipulation. The open central profile permits passage of sampling devices, instruments, speculum-mounted optics, or irrigation tools while maintaining exposure.
