Clinical Application

This bivalve Cusco speculum provides atraumatic exposure of the vaginal walls and cervix for routine gynecologic evaluation. It is intended for pelvic exams, cervical sampling (Pap smear), colposcopy, placement or removal of intrauterine devices and other minor outpatient procedures when planar exposure and hands-free access are required. The moderate blade dimensions suit standard adult examinations and allow good visualization while minimizing tissue compression at the blade tips.

Design & Configuration

The instrument features a two-blade bivalve design with a lateral screw mechanism for controlled opening and secure self-retention. The lateral screw permits incremental adjustment of the blade separation and locks in position to free the clinician's hands for instrumentation or sampling. Flat-ended blades distribute pressure over a broader surface to reduce focal pinching of delicate mucosa and facilitate atraumatic retraction during inspection and minor procedures.
