Clinical Application

This small Cusco speculum provides atraumatic exposure of the vaginal canal and cervix for diagnostic pelvic examinations and minor gynecologic procedures. The 75 x 32 mm blade geometry is most appropriate for patients with a narrow introitus, nulliparous patients, or those with atrophic vaginal tissue where a standard or larger speculum would be uncomfortable or provide excessive pressure. Typical uses include routine speculum exam, Pap smear collection, visualization during IUD placement/removal, cervical visualization for colposcopy/biopsy, and minor in-office procedures.

Design & Configuration

The bivalve, self-retaining design opens the vaginal walls to provide unobstructed visualization and working space without continuous manual retraction. The central hinge and locking mechanism permit incremental opening and secure retention at the desired width, allowing single-operator use and enabling the clinician to work with both hands. The rounded blade profile reduces contact trauma and patient discomfort while maintaining adequate exposure of the cervix and vaginal walls.
