Clinical Application
Designed for controlled dilation and calibration of the urethral lumen, this dilating bougie is used in urologic procedures to traverse and gently dilate strictures, facilitate passage of catheters or endoscopes, and confirm patency prior to instrumentation. The 18 Fr diameter is commonly selected for intermediate lumen sizing; the 34.5 cm length provides sufficient reach for typical adult urethral access while allowing secure handling during manipulation.
Design & Configuration
The curved (cvd) Dittel configuration follows the physiologic curvature of the male urethra, enabling a smoother trajectory during advancement and reducing focal pressure on the mucosa. A tapered, atraumatic tip eases initial negotiation of narrowing while minimizing tissue abrasion. The shaft is engineered to balance flexibility for atraumatic passage with enough column strength to permit controlled, incremental dilation and to serve as a guide for subsequent catheter or scope placement.

Material & Construction
Built for repeated clinical use and reprocessing, the instrument features a smooth, polished shaft and atraumatic tip profile to reduce mucosal drag during passage. The construction provides tactile feedback for the operator to assess resistance and confirm correct placement while supporting routine sterilization and reprocessing workflows.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
