Clinical Application
Guyon urethral bougies are used by urologists and surgical teams for urethral calibration, negotiation of urethral strictures, and facilitation of difficult catheter placements. The graduated 10–30 Fr range allows controlled, stepwise dilation and sizing prior to definitive instrumentation, endoscopic procedures, or intermittent catheterization when passage is restricted. The set supports decision-making on the appropriate catheter size and helps create a smooth track for subsequent devices.
Design & Configuration
The set is configured as a series of progressively larger bougies spanning 10 to 30 French, enabling incremental increases in diameter to minimize trauma during dilation. The rounded (olive) atraumatic tip provides a smooth leading surface to reduce mucosal injury and to provide predictable tactile feedback when passing strictured segments. Semi-rigid stainless construction offers sufficient stiffness to negotiate narrowed segments while retaining enough flexibility to follow the urethral curvature safely.
Instrument Specifications
- Set range: 10–30 Fr (graduated sizes)
- Tip: Rounded (olive) atraumatic tip for smooth passage
- Intended use: Urethral calibration, dilation, and guidance for catheter placement
- Construction: Reusable stainless steel
Material & Construction
Constructed from medical-grade stainless steel and finished for smooth atraumatic surfaces. Reusable design supports standard hospital reprocessing and sterilization workflows. The polished finish reduces snagging and eases cleaning prior to sterilization.
Quality & Compliance
