Clinical Application
Used to dilate, calibrate and probe the urethral lumen during urologic procedures and office-based interventions. Intended for atraumatic passage through the urethra to establish or confirm lumen size, traverse short strictures, and facilitate exchange or placement of catheters and introducers. A 30 Fr diameter provides a large-bore calibration useful when restoring or confirming a wider urethral caliber during dilation sequences or before prosthetic/catheter placement.
Design & Configuration
The Guyon pattern combines a smooth, tapered shaft with an atraumatic rounded tip to minimize mucosal trauma during insertion. A straight, firm geometry gives tactile feedback to the operator, allowing controlled advancement and assessment of resistance at a stricture site. The gradual taper reduces the risk of abrupt tissue stretch, helping achieve incremental dilation when used in serial sizing protocols with smaller and larger bougies.
