Clinical Application
This biliary probe is used intraoperatively to assess and access the cystic duct and biliary tree during cholecystectomy and biliary procedures. The 14 Fr diameter is suitable for adult cystic duct probing, gentle dilation, and for advancing cholangiography catheters or temporary stents under direct vision. It is useful for confirming duct patency, negotiating minor strictures, and providing a safe guide for contrast injection during intraoperative cholangiography.
Design & Configuration
The instrument's slender, smooth shaft and atraumatic rounded tip minimize mucosal trauma while allowing controlled passage through the cystic duct and into the common bile duct. A plain, non-serrated surface facilitates easy passage of catheters alongside the probe and reduces the risk of catching on ductal mucosa. The single‑shaft probe geometry provides tactile feedback to the surgeon for safe negotiation of the ductal lumen.
