Clinical Application

Designed for intraoperative use in open and laparoscopic biliary procedures, this probe is used to explore and cannulate the cystic duct, assess duct patency, and provide a tactile route for subsequent instrumentation such as cholangiography catheters or guidewires. It is useful during cholecystectomy when the surgeon needs a slender, controlled instrument to probe the gallbladder neck and cystic duct without causing trauma to ductal epithelium.

Design & Configuration

The instrument’s slim, smooth profile and atraumatic rounded tip minimize the risk of perforation while allowing the surgeon to negotiate bends in the cystic duct. A firm shaft delivers tactile feedback that helps distinguish obstructions or strictures versus patent lumen. The 12FG diameter provides a balance between a low-profile profile for delicate ducts and sufficient stiffness to transmit controlled movement from the operator’s hand to the tip.
