Clinical Application
This probe is intended for intraoperative biliary tract work. It is used to probe and cannulate the gallbladder and cystic duct, assess ductal patency, locate small calculi or obstructions, and guide placement of imaging catheters during operative cholangiography or biliary exploration. The 10FG gauge is commonly selected when a balance of profile and rigidity is required for gentle canalization and controlled passage through ductal anatomy.
Design & Configuration
The tapered shaft and blunt, rounded tip minimize mucosal trauma while allowing controlled advancement into narrow tubular structures. The 10 French gauge provides sufficient stiffness for directional control without an excessively large profile. A smooth, continuous shaft reduces tissue drag and facilitates passage of contrast catheters or retrieval devices alongside the probe when needed.
