Clinical Application
Designed for atraumatic passage through the urethra, these bougies are used to assess and manage urethral caliber, probe or dilate short urethral strictures, and facilitate placement of indwelling or intermittent catheters when initial catheterization is difficult. They are suitable for use in urology procedures performed in the clinic, ambulatory surgery center, or operating room.
Design & Configuration
The tapered shaft and smooth, rounded tip minimize mucosal trauma during insertion and navigation of the urethral lumen. A semi-rigid profile provides sufficient column strength to negotiate short strictures and guide catheters while retaining enough flexibility to follow the normal urethral curvature. These geometric features improve procedural control and reduce the need for repeated attempts.
