Clinical Application
Used for atraumatic urethral calibration, progressive dilation and as a guide for catheter or instrument passage in urologic procedures. Common applications include assessment and management of urethral strictures, facilitation of intermittent or retrograde catheter placement, and intraoperative calibration during reconstructive urethral surgery. The two sizes provide immediate options for stepwise dilation and confirmation of luminal patency.
Design & Configuration
The tapered, rounded tip minimizes mucosal trauma while allowing smooth atraumatic entry into the urethral meatus. Having both 14 Fr and 18 Fr in the Clutton pattern allows clinicians to perform controlled, stepwise dilation and to select the appropriate caliber for catheter guidance or calibration. A semi-rigid profile transmits tactile feedback to the operator, aiding detection of resistance from strictures or false passages and improving procedural control.
