Clinical Application
Designed for transurethral placement in the prostatic urethra, this catheter provides reliable bladder and prostatic drainage, and may be used to facilitate irrigation and access during/after urologic procedures such as transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and other endoscopic prostate interventions. The 16 Fr size balances luminal flow for drainage and irrigation while minimizing urethral trauma in adult patients.
Design & Configuration
The Coxeter pattern is configured to accommodate the anatomic curvature and narrower lumen of the prostatic urethra. A flexible shaft and an atraumatic distal tip reduce insertion resistance and mucosal trauma, while distal drainage aperture(s) allow continuous outflow and controlled irrigation. The 16 Fr diameter supports effective drainage and irrigation flow rates while remaining appropriate for prostatic applications.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Prostatic catheter
- Pattern / model: Coxeter catheter
- Size: 16 Fr
- Intended use: Prostatic and bladder drainage; urethral access for irrigation in urologic procedures
Material & Construction
Constructed from medical-grade catheter polymers with a smooth, atraumatic surface finish to support gentle urethral passage and minimize irritation. The distal geometry and drainage aperture(s) are molded to provide reliable flow and reduce the risk of occlusion during irrigation and postoperative drainage.
