Clinical Application
Designed for controlled retrieval of biliary calculi, this scoop is used to extract stones from the gallbladder and bile ducts during open biliary procedures and common bile duct exploration. The 8.0 mm scoop aperture and narrow profile make it suitable for capturing small to medium-caliber stones with minimal manipulation, reducing the need for fragmentation and facilitating specimen removal for pathology or culture.
Design & Configuration
The concave scoop head is configured to envelop calculi and allow secure capture for atraumatic withdrawal. The extended 32 cm shaft provides reach into the gallbladder fundus and extrahepatic bile ducts while keeping the surgeon's hands clear of the operative field. The Fig.3 Luer-Koerte geometry balances scoop capacity with a slim footprint to minimize interference with surrounding tissues and improve visualization during retrieval.
