Clinical Application
Designed to provide controlled, graded dilation of the biliary system during hepatobiliary procedures. Common applications include dilation of benign biliary strictures, tract dilation during percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography (PTC) and interventional radiology procedures, and facilitation of instrument or stent passage during choledochotomy or other bile duct interventions. The dilator is typically advanced over a guidewire to establish or enlarge a working lumen with minimal trauma.
Design & Configuration
The tapered dilating tip and rigid shaft geometry enable predictable radial expansion of the duct while minimizing shearing forces on the bile duct wall. The 30 cm shaft length provides reach to both extrahepatic and many intrahepatic targets encountered in percutaneous and surgical approaches. A smooth, atraumatic taper reduces resistance during advancement and helps to limit tissue trauma during serial enlargement.
