Clinical Application
Designed for intraoperative dilation of the common bile duct during biliary surgery. The instrument is used to progressively dilate a choledochotomy or native bile duct lumen to facilitate passage of retrieval instruments, cholangioscopes, T‑tubes or stents, and to assist with management of choledocholithiasis. The 9 mm diameter provides a moderate degree of dilation appropriate when enlargement of the duct lumen is required without extensive tissue excision.
Design & Configuration
The long 30 cm shaft provides the reach required for exploration and dilation of the extrahepatic biliary tree from the surgical field. A smoothly tapered tip geometry permits controlled, atraumatic bougienage of the ductal lumen while minimizing mucosal shear. The single‑ended dilator form factor allows straightforward advancement and withdrawal with direct tactile feedback, supporting precise incremental dilation under direct vision or cholangioscopic guidance.
