Clinical Application
Designed for obtaining endoluminal mucosal and superficial submucosal specimens from the rectum, these forceps are used during diagnostic and therapeutic proctology procedures including anoscopy and rigid sigmoidoscopy. The cup-style specimen jaws permit controlled tissue bites and secure retrieval of biopsy cores for histopathologic evaluation.
Design & Configuration
The long, 42 cm shaft provides reach through anoscopes, proctoscopes, and similar transanal instrumentation to access mid and upper rectal lesions without compromising manual control at the handle. The Fig. 2 Yeoman pattern emphasizes a robust specimen cup geometry to capture and retain tissue at the time of withdrawal, reducing fragmentation and improving sample integrity. A straight shaft supports direct line-of-sight instrument orientation common to proctologic access.
