Clinical Application
Designed to provide a secure, positive grip on tough soft tissues during operative procedures. The 4x5 tooth jaw pattern engages tissue to prevent slippage, making this instrument useful for grasping fascia, muscle, uterine tissue and other firm tissues for traction, exposure, or temporary stabilization. Because the interlocking teeth are intentionally traumatic, it is not indicated for delicate tissues such as bowel serosa or friable structures where atraumatic instruments are preferred.
Design & Configuration
The Allis pattern features short, broad jaws with interlocking teeth that concentrate contact forces to secure tissue with minimal repositioning. The 4x5 tooth arrangement balances grip security and tissue engagement — more aggressive than smooth forceps but more controlled than larger multitooth variants. The 25 cm overall length provides mid‑range reach suitable for superficial and abdominal cavity work while allowing precise manual control at the jaw. A ratcheting handle (standard for this pattern) permits sustained clamping without continuous manual pressure.
