Clinical Application
Designed to provide secure grasp and controlled traction on tonsillar tissue during tonsillectomy and related oropharyngeal procedures. The instrument is used to seize and elevate the tonsil for dissection, ligation, or delivery, and to maintain tissue tension while the surgeon performs precise cutting or cautery. Its locking action frees an assistant’s hands while maintaining consistent purchase on tissue.
Design & Configuration
The seizing jaw geometry concentrates grip on the tonsillar capsule for reliable purchase without excessive bulk in the oropharynx. A locking ratchet on the handles permits sustained hold at selectable tensions, which is useful during dissection and hemostasis. The 20 cm length provides adequate reach and working distance for adult and pediatric otolaryngology exposures while keeping handles accessible outside the oral cavity.
